Pyruvate supplies the body with pyruvic acid, a natural compound that plays important roles in the manufacture and use of energy.
Pyruvate is involved in energy synthesis in most living organisms. It is not considered an essential nutrient since it can be produced in the cells of the body. Pyruvate, however, is consumed in the daily diet.
Pyruvate can be found in high concentration in a few fruits (apples) and vegetables, as well as in dark beer and red wine.
It is believed that pyruvate may aid weight loss efforts and enhance the ability to use energy efficiently.
Pyruvate derivatives are: Sodium Pyruvate; Calcium Pyruvate; Potassium Pyruvate; Magnesium Pyruvate; Dihydroxyacetone Pyruvate (DHAP)
